Which is why I was thrilled when Paul Kortman, CEO of Connex Social, agreed to chat with me again. We’d talked before about SEO, email, pay-per-click, social advertising, and content marketing amongst a lot of other great stuff.

Why You Should Add Video Marketing to Your Digital Content Toolbox
Most of us are visual learners. We like making decisions – particularly purchasing decisions – on things we can see. That’s why the video has become so popular.
Video allows people to get to know small business owners, see their products, and evaluate their services. Seeing these things is way more powerful than simply reading about them.
Paul pointed out that with video you can communicate so much more by showing as well as telling. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth a million.
Videos are also a faster medium for conveying information. Think about how much you can tell your ideal customer in a one minute video. It would probably take them at least five minutes or more to read all of that information to get the same benefit.
The great thing about the video is that it doesn’t need to be perfect when you’re just starting out.
The idea of having to be perfect holds a lot of people back from making important strides in their digital marketing campaign.
But rest assured – people don’t expect perfection. Consumers are used to watching YouTube and Facebook Live videos, most of which are made with a person’s phone.
A lot of people like these videos because it makes the video creator seem more real and relatable. As long as you have good content to share and they can hear you – that’s the most important thing.
Focus on a Good Combination of Digital Marketing Strategies
When it comes to marketing strategy, some people think you need an all-or-nothing approach. So, when the latest digital content strategy comes along, they jump on board and dump what’s worked for them in the past.
It’s true that we don’t want to hold onto relics of the past that are no longer viable in today’s market. However, just because something new comes along doesn’t mean the strategies of yesterday aren’t still useful.
Paul pointed out that, while the video is the latest trend in digital marketing, it’s best to have a nice mix of digital content – video, as well as audio and blog posts.
Having a mix appeals to more people and is yet another way you can spread the word about what it is you do and why people should hire you.
