The importance of proper hydration can’t be overstated

Being a healthy individual isn’t easy, and you have to invest lots of hard work into making sure your health is always on the highest level. Eating five times a day, staying away from fast food, going to the gym, getting enough sleep, visiting your doctor frequently, being in the open as much as possible, spending time with the people you love and having a positive view of life are just some of the things people do in order to be mentally and physically healthy.

However, this is sometimes not enough, especially if you don’t pay enough attention to proper hydration. This is something you mustn’t forget if you wish to remain healthy in the decades to come as well, so here’s why hydration is so vital.

How thirsty are you?

The problem most people have with hydration is that they don’t drink water and other liquids until they feel thirsty – and this can be for hours and hours. However, the truth is that your body needs water even if doesn’t give you an indication that’s the case.

You should have at least a couple of glasses a water every single day, even if you’re not feeling thirsty at all. This is particularly important if you’re working out – based on your age and weight, you can do the calculations on your own and determine the precise amount of water your body needs while you’re being physically active.

What about sweating?

This is another question millions of people around the world are asking at the moment – how much water do they need if they’re working out and sweating more than usual? Whether you’re in the gym or in the open, the more intense your workout is the sweatier you’ll become, and your body will require more water to stay properly hydrated.

If you fail to drink enough liquids, you’ll start feeling sick, woozy and weak, and you may eventually faint and even hurt yourself. This is when accidents occur, and you should be very careful not to let this happen to you as well just because you forgot to take a few sips of water.

What kind of water?

Unfortunately, not all types of water are equally good for your health, and you could be drinking lots of it and still not make a positive change. Many people buy bottled water, thinking this is the best solution for them, but this water often comes in unhealthy packaging and isn’t eco-friendly at all.

That’s why filtered water could be the best solution no matter where they are – at home, in the office, in the gym, at a friend’s, etc. This solution is also more practical and less expensive than any other alternative, which is why  a constantly rising number of people opt for a reverse osmosis water filter as the healthiest way to get completely clean, good-tasting water into their bodies.

Is water enough?

When you’re not working out, having six or seven glasses of water a day will keep you hydrated. However, if you’re spending hours in the gym, swimming, riding a bike or jogging, this might not be enough. So, think about other options and help your body stay hydrated in another way.

Most people think sports drinks aren’t good for them, but the truth is quite the opposite – these could be the best solution out there, especially if you make them on your own. Homemade pre- and post-workout drinks are guaranteed to prepare you for hard workout sessions and help you recover afterwards, so explore the flavours you like and start making these as soon as possible.

As you can see, staying properly hydrated while being physically active isn’t hard at all, so don’t be afraid to invest your time and energy into it. If you forget your water at home, have some at the gym, or buy a freshly-squeezed fruit juice – whatever you need to do to give your body enough fuel will be quite all right!
